Not sure if your need your chimney cleaned?

Take a look at our most frequently asked question.
Q. HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE MY CHIMNEY CLEANED?
A. This is a tougher question then it sounds. People use their fireplaces in different ways. Some burn small fires only occasion, while others, use it daily to heat their house, etc.
The national fireplace protection association standard 211 says, “chimneys, fireplaces and vents shall be inspected at least once a year
for soundness, freedom from deposits and correct clearances. Cleaning maintance and repairs shall be done as necessary. This takes into account that even if you don’t use your fireplace much, animals may build nests in the chimney flue, or you may have other types of deteroition that could make your chimney and fireplace unsafe to use…..A good rule of thum to go by is that if you have about 1/8” of soot buildup, you should have your chimney cleaned and sooner if you have any glazed soot buildup
